Astaxanthin

Astaxanthin is one of my favorite supplements. It’s created in anger. When the organism is exposed to harsh and not friendly conditions starts to produce Astaxanthin. Its color is red. When a cell is under stress starts to produce Astaxanthin to protect and calm down the cell. We can say Astaxanthin is a calming and anti-inflammatory product for cells trying to survive in a hostile environment or under high stress. It quenches free radicals and blocks damage from oxidative stress. It also can repair some of the cellular damage, it can help control cellular survival, so, from a longevity point of view is also not bad, right? Astaxanthin is a xanthophyll carotenoid which basically means a plant pigment that is usually colorful. This substance makes krabs, lobsters, salmon, etc, red or pink. Tomato is also red but it’s because of Lycopene. Astaxanthin is bright red, intensely red.

Astaxanthin has so many benefits like antioxidants and free radical scavengers. As a free radical scavenger is 200x more potent than other polyphenols, 150x than Anthocyanin, 75x than Alpha Lipoic Acid, 550x greater than vitamin E, and 54x than Beta carotene, 6000x better than vit. C, and 800x than Coenzyme Q. From an antioxidant point of view is 10x greater than Lutein and Zeaxanthin, 14x than vit. E, 54x than beta carotene, 65x than vit. C, and 100x better than alpha-tocopherol. It is quite unique. It can accept or donate protons but it doesn’t become a pro-oxidant. It is good for the immune system, eye, and skin protection against UVA radiation, and many more that I am not gonna mention here. I just wanna mention one and last aspect.

FITNESS

We know very well that exercise is associated with an increase of a higher volume of oxygen and that is why with increased volume of free radicals. Astaxanthin, taken on a daily basis, can actually prevent this excess production. Can also give you more power for exercise. I would not recommend taking it right after exercise though. Astaxanthin blinds that desirable inflammatory effect bodybuilders want for muscle growth. For high fitness performers, I recommend 12mg of Astaxanthin. Be aware though, that smoker’s bioavailability of Astaxanthin is 40% less!!!

Let me tell you something in the end. As Russians love Carnosine, the Japanese love Astaxanthin and do research on that topic a lot. So if you wanna know more focus on Japanese. If you wanna take it naturally then focus on more pink, almost red, deep water, and wild-caught, sea creatures. Farmed salmons have very little Astaxanthin in them and I am not even talking about antibiotics they contain, etc… If you ask me what I do so I take 12mg of Astaxanthin I eat wild-caught salmon or deep water shrimps, scallops, crabs, lobster, etc. I have a pretty active life, heavy lifting, and I am also not young anymore so you can imagine. I need as much help as I can get and this one helps me a lot!!! So this is it from my side. I can do nothing else but recommend this bad guy to you! I hope you had a great time reading my point of view on this supplement and see you next time.
